Woodville Concert Band and their conductor Dr Nathan Cummins present Once Upon a Chime, a concert of storytelling. Featuring nostalgic repertoire from your childhood cartoons including everyone’s favourite cat and mouse rivals “Tom and Jerry”, the thrilling instrumental composition famously heard in Bugs Bunny, “Powerhouse” by Raymond Scott, and finally the Norwegian fairy-tale “Peer Gynt” by Edward Grieg, Once Upon a Chime is a concert for those both young and young at heart.

The concert’s highlight will be “The Lion and the Mouse,” a narrated story composed by Dr Nathan Cummins himself, and narrated by Tommy Raets. This charming tale not only teaches the beauty of each instrument and their place in the ensemble but also imparts valuable lessons of kindness and the power of helpfulness through the unlikely friendship between the lion and the mouse.

“Their concerts set your toes tapping, put a broad smile on your face, and leave tunes in your head for many hours afterwards” – The Barefoot Review “Symphony of Space (2023)”

“Cummins and the Woodville Concert Band are on the pulse of what audiences want” – Glam Adelaide “Music With Motion: Next Gen (2024)”.

Mark your calendars for this celebration of local talent and creativity! Join us in your comfy clothes and cosy blankets at 7pm, 12 October at the Woodville Town Hall. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to experience the magic of storytelling through music.
